Emma (aka Yarn Industries) is a hand embroidery artist based in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia). From her small (2m²) studio in Preston, she creates beautifully hand-stitched works inspired by Australia’s incredible native wildlife and plants.
After learning embroidery from her Grandmother, Emma is passionate about keeping this traditional art-form alive and hopes to inspire future generations of stitchers with her ‘Beginners Guide to Embroidery’ kits and workshops.
With a background in Graphic Design, Emma also has a love for paper and print. When she’s not sewing, she can usually be found meticulously trimming, collating and assembling her embroidery kits and booklets by hand. Every Yarn Industries product is individually crafted by her with love.
This hands-on beginners embroidery workshop gives you all the introductory skills needed to stitch your own designs, master a range of stitches and learn tips and tricks that will have you sewing with confidence in no time. These newly learnt skills will then be applied to create your own piece of hoop art using a native Australian botanical pattern from Yarn Industries.
All materials (in a kit) will be provided to get you started with hand embroidery. You will learn design, basic stitches to give different effects. You will be given a full kit to keep you going with this craft.
$75.00 per person (incl GST) includes light refreshments & materials to use during workshop, conducted by an expert craft teacher. You will start and/or finish a hoop of Australian Native artwork designed by Yarn Industries (similar to Wattle shown above).
